Product DescriptionCommon use
Relafen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which used to relieve the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis (the most common form of arthritis). Relafen reduces hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.
Dosage and direction
Take it orally with or without food/milk. For osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis the recommended starting dose is 1000 milligrams (mg) once a day, in the morning or evening, or 500 mg twice a day, in the morning and evening. Do not use more than 2000 mg a day.
This medication is not recommended for children, so do not use it without doctor's permission.
After taking this med you may do anything except lying anywhere at least 30 minutes.

Use Relafen with cautions if your medical history include: any liver or kidney disease, blood disorders, ulcers, heart disease, alcohol use, high blood pressure, eye disease, asthma, nasal polyps, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy and when performing tasks requiring alertness. Limit alcohol intake as it may increade the drowsiness effect of this drug. Using alcohol in combination with Relafen, may increase your risk for stomach bleeding. Also this drug can cause increased sensitivity to sunlight. Relafen should not be used during pregnancy, becoming pregnant or lactating without doctor's advice. Do not use before breast-feeding without doctor's advice.
Relafen is not allowed in people who are hypersensetive to to Relifex, Relafen. Also do not use this drug if you have had asthma attacks, hives or other allergic reactions caused by Relifex, Relafen, Aspirin, or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Do not use Relafen for the treatment of peri-operative pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft surgery .
Possible side effect
They may include an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Also the most possible side effects include:
chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance;
black, bloody, or tarry stools;
coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
swelling or rapid weight gain;
urinating less than usual or not at all;
nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
fever, sore throat, and headache with a severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness.
Less serious include:
upset stomach, mild heartburn or stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation;
dizziness, headache, nervousness;
skin itching or rash;
ringing in your ears.
If you experience one of them stop using Relafen and tell your doctor as soon as possible. Also consult with your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual.
Relafen interact with the following drugs:
a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin);
lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid);
methotrexate (Rheumatrex, Trexall);
diuretics (water pills) such as furosemide (Lasix);
steroids (prednisone and others);
aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as etodolac (Lodine), flurbiprofen (Ansaid), indomethacin (Indocin), ketoprofen (Orudis), ketorolac (Toradol), mefenamic acid (Ponstel), meloxicam (Mobic), naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), piroxicam (Feldene), and others; or
an ACE inhibitor such as benazepril (Lotensin), captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), enalapril (Vasotec), lisinopril (Prinivil, Zestril), ramipril (Altace), and others.
Also note that interaction between two medications does not always mean that you
must stop taking one of them. As usual it affects the the effect of drugs, so consult with your doctor about how it interactions are being managed or should be managed.
If you forgot to take your dose in time, please do it as soon as you remember. But do not take if it is too late or almost time for your next dose. Do not take double or extra doses. Take your usually dose next day in the same regularly time.
Symptoms of Relafen overdose may include: stomach bleeding, elevated blood pressure, kidney failure, impaired breathing, drowsiness, lack of energy, nausea, vomiting, stomach painand coma. If you experience one of them or any unusual symptoms call your doctor immediately.
Store at room temperature between 59-77 degrees F (15-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets. Do not use after expiration term.
